TwitchCon Unplugged: Bringing Digital Energy to Print Design.
PROJECT TYPE: Speculative print design for a livestreamer convention
ROLE: Print and Graphic Designer
INDUSTRY: Tech, Video Games, Social Media
TOOLS: Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator
DURATION: Q2 2022
JUMP TO:
TwitchCon is where the Twitch community comes to life; it's a place where streamers and fans step out from behind their screens and into a world filled with meetups, panels, and experiences built around their favorite creators. But in 2022, this wasn't just any TwitchCon—this was the first one since COVID-19. After years of virtual-only interaction, thousands of new streamers who found success during the pandemic were stepping into the convention scene for the first time.
TwitchCon's branding was already strong, but the physical, real-world experience needed to match the platform’s excitement and energy. My goal for this class assignment? To bridge the gap between digital and print and turn the existing brand into something tangible, interactive, and just as immersive as the online Twitch experience.
PROBLEM:
BRINGING THE BRAND TO LIFE, IRL.
Twitch already had a recognizable brand and an interesting concept for the convention, but there was a challenge:
THIS WASN’T JUST ANOTHER CONVENTION.
TwitchCon 2022 marked Twitch’s first major in-person event since COVID-19. The excitement was high, and the design needed to reflect that.
NEW CREATORS, NEW ENERGY.
During the pandemic, a massive wave of new streamers built their communities. Many of them had never attended a convention before, and this was their first time seeing Twitch as a real, physical space.
PRINT DESIGN HAD TO BE BOTH FUNCTIONAL AND IMMERSIVE.
Convention materials, such as guidebooks, creator passes, and tabletop cards, needed to be more than just informative; they had to feel like an extension of the Twitch experience and add to the excitement.
The challenge wasn’t reinventing the TwitchCon brand but expanding it to make it bigger, bolder, and more immersive for attendees.

dESIGNING FOR THE STREAMER EXPERIENCE.
PROCESS:
Since Twitch’s branding was already established, my job wasn’t to create something new but to take what already existed and push it further into the real world:
PULLING FROM THE BRAND’S DNA.
I studied TwitchCon’s patterns, colors, and brand voice, expanding them into something interactive and tactile.
STUDYING REAL-WORLD CONVENTION MATERIALS.
I analyzed handbooks, passes, and print collateral from other cons I’d attended, figuring out what worked and didn’t, and how I could create something that felt natural for a streamer audience.
FINDING THE BALANCE BETWEEN CORPORATE AND COMMUNITY.
The materials needed to check all the necessary boxes for execs while still feeling fun and engaging for attendees. The solution? A fourth-wall-breaking approach—designing materials that spoke directly to streamers and fans in the same bold, energetic tone that makes Twitch unique.
This approach ensured that every print design felt more than just like a handout; it felt like part of the TwitchCon experience.

SOLUTION + RESULTS:
MakING PRINT FEEL DIGITAL.
By the end of the process, I had transformed what would have been static, generic guides and handouts into immersive experiences, blending print and digital elements.
THE DESIGNS ELEVATED THE PHYSICAL TWITCHCON EXPERIENCE.
Attendees wouldn’t be just handed convention materials—they would interact with them. The design choices made guidebooks, creator passes, and tabletop cards feel like a natural extension of Twitch's brand, not an afterthought.
THE IMMERSIVE, FOURTH-WALL-BREAKING VOICE WAS A HIT.
Designing for a fun, engaging brand voice made me realize how much I love working with immersive storytelling, and it was a hit among my peers.
A PASSION FOR EXPERIMENTAL DESIGN.
This project solidified my passion for design, extending beyond aesthetics. I love telling a story and bringing a brand to life in a way people remember.
Twitch thrives because it's more than just a platform—it's a community. This project's challenge was translating that energy into the physical world, taking an already iconic brand and making it feel even more alive at TwitchCon.
More than anything, this project solidified something for me: I love designing for brands with immersive, bold personalities, whether digital or print; creating something that feels real, exciting, and genuinely fun makes a great design stick.
